Please reach us at steph@wagsandwellbeing.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We offer a variety of services, including 1-to-1 training and group classes. We're here to help if you want to change a behaviour or want to just have fun with your dog, and anything in between. See our services page for more information.
Training your dog is lifelong and I hope you will develop a love, joy and passion for it, just like I have. Like humans, all dogs learn in different ways and at different speeds. It’s important that we work with them individually but you will see real life results and improvements through consistent and informed training. Results will also depend on you working with your dog and following a tailored plan outside of our training sessions and classes.
Even when you’ve worked through your issue, you can keep on training, improving and having fun with your dog! You’re never finished unless you want to be.
Definitely not! There is no age limit for successful dog training – no dog is too old, or too young for that matter. There may be some things we need to take into consideration depending on age but that will be included in your plan.
We look at the whys behind your dog's behaviour and tackle the cause rather than the symptoms. To see real improvements, we want to develop the skills that your dog needs to handle the challenges that life throws at them. By growing concepts like calmness and optimism, you and your dog will see great improvements.
Absolutely not. Just like you go to work for a wage, we need to make training worthwhile for our dogs. We use food to build a positive association with the behaviours that we like to see. Don’t think that’s all we use, we’ll use other reinforcers like toys, play and fuss, all depending on what your dog likes. And if you don't know what your dog likes, we'll find out!
It’s important that your dog is comfortable so train your dog in the equipment they usually wear, like a well-fitting harness or collar and lead. Other equipment like a long line can be useful, but is not necessary. You should also bring reinforcers that your dog likes, for example treats and/ or toys. Your dog should have access to clean water at all times.
We can discuss the best option for you with our 1-to-1 training sessions either at your home (Doncaster area only), my premises (in Doncaster), in public or virtually.
Group classes are at various venues in the Doncaster area, both indoor and outdoor.
Absolutely - it might sound counter-intuitive but we don't actually need your dog to have a successful training session. A virtual session takes away the stress that some dogs can feel going to a new environment or having someone new enter their home.
That is certainly possible, please get in touch to make sure we meet all of your requirements and we keep everyone safe.
